April Food Holidays
National and international food holidays and observances for the month of April
Except for occasional appearances in late March, April means the celebration of Easter and for the more strictly religious, the end to a period of Lenten fasting. Traditional Easter dinners typically include sides like scalloped potatoes, asparagus and biscuits with ham, chicken or roast lamb as the main dish. That’s if you’re an adult.
If you’re a kid, Easter means baskets stuffed with Easter grass, giant chocolate bunnies, and plastic eggs filled with jelly beans and candy or chocolate eggs filled with peanut butter, or maybe chocolate eggs filled with marshmallow yolk, or maybe… well, let’s just say Easter means that a lot of different kinds of eggs are going to be eaten. If you’re the parent of an Easter kid, there’s a really good chance you’ll need to know how to tie-dye a hard-boiled egg or bake a coconut bunny cake so you might brush up on those creative kitchen skills.
